Lovely Japanese okidoko tansu chest for the tea ceremony tokonoma alcove, Taisho period, c. 1912-1926. Richly grained keyaki (zelkova) wood with enchanting metalwork in the shape of fans. Wonderful for storage of tea accessories. Could also work as a petite getabako shoe storage chest and bench, or a unique platform for ikebana or hina doll display. Very good condition. Dimensions: 13” high, 34.5” wide, 12” deep.
