Japanese Specialty Tansu

Japanese furniture offers far more than clothing or utensil storage. For centuries, specialty tansu have been crafted for all manner of uses.

Butsudan altar chests traditionally served as family shrines but, with their ornate gilded carving and black lacquer exteriors are in great demand today for many Western homes. Futon tansu or bedding chests were designed with exceptional depth to accommodate futon or bedding during the day.
