Appealing design features inset, fan-shaped cartouches with stylized renderings of plum blossoms, bamboo and pine (the "three friends of winter").  Skillfully crafted with great care. Sturdy, richly grained cedar.  Ranma are traditionally used in a Japanese room between the sliding room divider and the ceiling. The open work ensures easy flow of air from room to room. Today, they serve as gorgeous decorative accents in any setting!  One of a pair (see item TJ8D144B).  Very good condition.
