Fantastic Japanese tsugaru lacquer table, c. early 20th century. Gorgeous lacquer work is accomplished by dripping various colors in clumps on to the surface, then coating these with additional colors. Later, sanding reveals ringlets of variegated colors and patterns, a fascinating technique. The artist has superb control over the lacquer, creating a spotted pattern across the table (and legs!). A gorgeous low coffee table. Very good condition with minor distress. Dimensions: 12.5 high, 48 wide, 36 deep.
