Beautiful Japanese handcarved wood ranma, early 20th-century. Scenic motif features mountain village landscape. Skillfully carved with great depth and detail. Sturdy, warmly colored and dramatically grained cedar wood. Ranma are traditionally used in a Japanese room between the sliding room divider and the ceiling. The open work ensures easy flow of air from room to room. Today, they serve as gorgeous decorative accents in any setting. One of a pair (see item TJ7D1316). Buy one or both! Very good condition.
