Dramatic Japanese mizuya-dansu or kitchen chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Traditionally used to store kitchen utensils and supplies. Lovely varied design with combination of cedar, cypress and keyaki woods with great graining.  Configuration offers abundant storage space in large and smaller cupboards housed by sliding paneled doors. A trio of drawers offers additional storage options. Graceful mokko-style handles. An excellent example of traditional craftsmanship. Very good condition. Dimensions:  " high, 37.75" wide, 17" deep.
