Great Japanese choba-dansu or merchant chest tansu, contemporary.  Fine, tall design, featuring multiple drawers and slatted cabinet.  Wonderful for use as side table.  Merchant chests were traditionally used by shop merchants to store valuable goods or documents, account books and paper goods. Fashioned of attractive, lightweight kiri wood. Very good condition. Dimensions:  36” high, 17” wide, 13.75” deep.
