Fantastic Japanese mizuya-dansu or kitchen chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Traditionally used to store kitchen utensils and supplies. Fabulous design features sturdy cypress and finely grained cedar woods with red lacquer finish. Elegant, eye-catching construction offers abundant storage space in large cupboards housed by sliding paneled doors of wood and glass. A truly remarkable work of kitchen tansu craftsmanship and a lovely example of traditional charm. Very good condition. Dimensions: 35.5” high (w/stand), 71” wide, 19” deep.
