Japanese Hibachi Japanese wooden hibachi were traditionally used to provide heat or keep the kettle warm for visitors to the Japanese home.
Crafted with great care of prized woods such as the richly grained keyaki (zelkova) or golden kiri (paulownia), they feature a copper ash receptacle and often small drawers once used for tobacco, tea utensils or writing materials.
Today, with the simple addition of a pane of glass, hibachi make lovely and unique coffee or side tables with display box, or elegant jardinières.
