Charming Japanese shoe chest tansu, early 20th century. Traditionally kept at the entryway of a house to store shoes removed while at home. Fashioned entirely of richly grained golden cedar wood. Panels above and below slide open reveal ample storage space. A vertical interior cabinet provides space for umbrellas and other tall items and a rare, small drawer at top offers further options. Very good condition. Dimensions: 35.25” high, 29.75” wide, 12.25” deep.
