Splendid Japanese isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912.  Fashioned of cypress and richly grained cedar wood. Unusually heavy traditional metalwork features warabite-style drawer pulls and round lockplates. A functional, lovely piece exhibiting self-assured Japanese style and composition. Very good condition. Dimensions:  23” high w/stand, 35.5” wide, 15.5” deep.
