| Fine Japanese isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Fashioned wholly of warm, lightweight kiri (paulownia) wood. Bold, traditional metalwork features circular lockplates and heavy warabite style drawer pulls. Decorative bracketing surrounds the entire piece. Long, deep drawers offer generous storage space. A sublime and functional piece exhibiting Japanese style and tradition. Comes with customized wood stand. Very good condition. Dimensions: 26.5” high w/stand, 36” wide, 18” deep. |
