Lovely Japanese two-section isho-dansu or clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912. Striking two-section chest fashioned wholly of warm, lightweight kiri (paulownia) wood. Simple but striking traditional metalwork features circular lockplates and warabite style drawer pulls. Decorative bracketing surrounds the entire piece. Long, deep drawers offer generous storage space and a small cabinet at base provices further options. A sublime and functional piece exhibiting Japanese style and tradition. Very good condition. Dimensions: 39.5” high, 36.5” wide, 16.5” deep.
