Elegant Japanese two-section clothing chest tansu, Meiji period, c. 1868-1912.  Charming chest fashioned of warm, lightweight kiri (paulownia) wood. Striking traditional metalwork features eye-catching lockplates with graceful bracketing and heavyweight handles. Deep drawers offer generous storage space.  A lovely, functional piece exhibiting Japanese style and tradition. Very good condition.  Dimensions:  44” high, 37.75” wide, 16.5” deep.
