Breathtaking Japanese handpainted lacquer kazaridana dansu display tansu, late Edo period, c. 1800-1860. Exquisitely handpainted in rich gold and multicolor lacquer. Motif includes Noh mask, fan and inro, rooster and hen, birds and flowers, butterfly and irises. Exquisitely rendered, lavishly conceived. Wonderful form with varied storage options and footed base. A remarkable display cabinet, and a stunning addition to any environment. Very good condition with minor lacquer loss commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 27” high, 22” wide, 10.5”.
